Summertime

It's hot in Portland and this pic is a great escape. It's 98 degrees so far. The weather man said 103! I'm from Texas and used to the heat. Yed hates it when its over 85 degrees. He needs to chill out. hee hee. I like it. I think I may be the only one...

All the Little Details

I love adding little touches to our packaging, whether it's a pretty stamped box & ribbon or a pink pouch. It's a little thank you to all the lovelies that support us. I'm a detail gal and I know when I get those little touches, I notice & it's sweet. Having said that, I love these little boxes from Miss Martha's wedding section. The blooms are super sweet. These are beautiful as wedding favors or packaging little goodies like jewelry.

I'm also a sucker for flowers.

Garden Bento

I love this pic by Sakurako Kitsa. They used egg whites, carrots, red peppers & squash. Lovely.

I took the day off on Sunday to garden. It's alot of work! When you see everything grow and bloom, it's so worth it. It's inspiring! Everything is growing so fast now. My zucchini is pretty big! I'll throw some on the grill today. Yum.

This week flew by and I need to catch up on my sleep! Lovely boutiques this week have fresh shipments of jewels like: Sole (in the Pearl), Silverado (NW 23rd) Lily Atelier (Camas WA) Zizia (Burien, WA) and THE FINERIE ( Seattle). I'm barely trucking along to do the Portland Saturday Market tomorrow.
!New shoes!! (that's the burst of energy I needed)!
Enjoy your weekend!

Lovin' my Isabela Shoes!

I couldn't resist and they are in my possession! I deserve these babies! When I am 89, I will wear these to my bingo games with the girls!

Thank you Kim over at Sole (NW 10th & Couch in the Pearl) for introducing us.
..

Update: Yed said, "Where's your sword & shield?" I said, "I'll make them." Clearly he's jealous.

Sprinkles

I love sprinkles! Don't they make you happy?
My four year old got me hooked...
I'm easily hooked...
Sigh...
Now to play hide & seek!

Seriously.

Rasberry Season

These little cuties inspired these earrings! We had a blast picking these at Krugers farm in Sauvie Island. Micah was captivated by their beauty. I tried to get him to eat one, but Leah had better luck doing that. I also got my baby fix with little Orson. It was a good day! Thanks Leah & Erin! We missed you Ann & Maggie;)

Lady Bugs

I love these little beetles! The first pendant I made was a copper lady bug. I never knew that they swarm together like bees. It turns out that their population rose 15-20% this year. The sight is amazing! I had to share. These little cuties swarm together to feast and mate. What a life! Lady bugs eat aphids (plant lice) whom are plentiful right now because of the high moisture. Aphids are destructive to plants so these lady bugs come to the rescue for farmers & gardeners. I'm trying my hand in gardening this year and learn something new everyday.

Astoria Trip

Astoria-Megler Bridge, originally uploaded by Artnchicken.
My creative battery needs, so very desperately, to be charged. So I did what any Oregonian would do. I took an emergency road trip to the coast. I loaded up on snacks at the gas station where I also added 10-30w Pennzoil to my beloved Subaru. Subaru's need snacks too.
I am currently listening to the sound of docked boats gently swaying in the wind here in Astoria. It's 2:00 a.m. and I can't seem to sleep! My creative battery is almost charged. It was beautiful here at the coast today-oops I mean yesterday! Perfect 70 degree weather (maybe 68), and my little guy loved the adventure. Although, I think I heard him groan and saw him roll his eyes when I attempted to sing the ABC's on the road. Does a four year old roll his/her eyes? Maybe I'm being a little dramatic. Micah had fun hanging out with his Tio Jesse (who happens to be working here).
Back to the grind in 6 hours.
Before we go, I must grab a hot java and walk the cool beach again at sunrise.

Painting Therapy

I'm overdue on some painting therapy. No, not my house, even though it's not finished yet (yikes a little A.D.D.). I love to paint portraits in black and white on large particle boards or canvas. I escape into the paint and can't stop until I finish. This picture is beautiful and inspires me to paint him. I can see all the brush strokes and shadows.

2. I just want to pick her brain.

3. Secretly I'd like to be a rock star.

Wedding Season

I picked up Martha Stewart's Weddings Magazine (just for shits & giggles) and loved the how-to on fabric blooms! When I entered the world of DIY, I started making these first and had a blast doing it. Then it evolved just a tad ...
Anyway, I love the pictures and the little tips on how to make these. It's really simple. Your set if you have scissors, thread, needle and fabric (maybe an old bridesmaid dress you'll never ever want to wear again). Shhhh, I won't tell. I'm sure that old dress would look smashing cut up into blooms on a simple dress or tank top. You can see how they do it here.

PS. I meet with some talented ladies once a month on crafty projects and this would be fantastic! Right ladies?

Join Us, Sweet Baby Girl...

The moments after birth, originally uploaded by Jon ..

My younger brother and his lovely wife Jen are finally at the hospital after passing their due date by a week. I feel for her right now and hope everything is smooth & painless. Is that even possible? As my little boy would say, "That's ridiculous!".

I can't wait to meet her!

As of now she's still comfortable in her momma's belly...

UPDATE: Thursday, July 2,2009- 2:03 a.m. still in labor!!!

UPDATE: Thursday, July 2, 2009-2:49 a.m. 8lbs. 6 oz.

Congratulations Gary & Jennifer!
