Father's Day Gift
I know. A basketball on this blog is completely out of place and really, I must be smoking crack to blog about basketball. Well, I have a basketball crazed husband named Yed. For father's day a good friend suggested I get Yed a basketball. Simple right? Well, I guess there is an art at choosing the right ball. They have to be, indoor/outdoor, perfectly round and feel right. Sounds like a boob job to me...hee hee. So I can thank Byron for going through the trouble of getting the perfect ball because Yed lit up like a Christmas tree when he got it. Then he gave it the physical examination with furrowed brows!? A good father only deserves the best basketball, right? He said, "Sweet babe! How did you know?" I said, "I know everything."

Happy Father's Day!

I remember these pics of my dad holding me after work when I was a baby. I remember his blue work shirt and how I would get excited when dad came home
from work.
I don't have very many pics, but this one is classic! Late seventies decor and style. I'm being a turkey sitting on my dad's lap. My brother looks so tiny with my momma! They say my dad and I are similar and very stubborn. C'est la vie. When I was little I would look through my dad's endless tools, projects and sketches. He is very crafty! With his help (tons), I placed 2nd at my 2nd grade science fair. It was a fabulous sculpture of the solar system. We spray painted and even made intricate rings around Saturn using old styrofoam, toothpicks and scrap wood.

Tattoos
I should be working now, instead I'm looking at tattoos. I think my brain is fried this second. I can't turn on my torch tonight -just because. A night off?
I would love to get another tattoo. I think I may sketch one out and it just might get my blood flowing again. Ever get in a funk at your desk? Work bench? Studio? Sewing machine? Microphone? Computer?

Organize:

bookshelf spectrum, revisited, originally uploaded by chotda.
On my list of things to do is to organize all my gemstones by color. It will be a pain, but really inspiring and rewarding. I will actually have an idea of what gemstones I have in stock. Uhmmm, not that I was clueless or anything. I'll take a picture- only if it looks cute. Now to find a vintage dresser with lots of drawers...

Bridal Collection coming soon... I promise...
I've also been on a Black Onyx kick lately and love the contrast with creamy white Pearls.
"Can you wear hoops to your wedding?" a lady asked me last week. I say you can wear what ever you want. It's your day baby! I like that last sentence for everyday.
Now I just need to get my hands on those strappy gladiator heels I've been lusting after...

Thunderstorm
So this picture was taken in Chicago and could easily be mistaken for downtown Portland in the Pearl today. Maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but this storm came out of no where! We set up shop for First Thursday and one block over I see paintings in the air, canopies, paper, dirt, all kinds of debris. Like a tornado tore thru the Pearl! So many artists lost works and it was headed our way! My friend Suzanne held onto the canopy with me as her purses and bags hit the ground. Yed held the glass cases together and Micah held onto his bicycle. People were yelling, artwork was crashing, it was a mess! I looked up at my neighbor Kirk, and he said, "So your sticking around right?" BTW- he was a bit delirious having been hit by a car on his bike today. I don't think I've ever packed up jewelry so fast. It was really a world record (6min). I heard advisories on the radio and my friend even called to warn me. It was so sunny and pretty at that time, I brushed it off. Wow! Thanks for offering shelter Erin!
Update: I drove by at 8:30 and about 4 or 5 artists stayed! That's pretty hardcore! Maybe they drove in from Seattle?
