Winter Escape

The Oregon coast is sunny and amazing! It's still chilly, but warmer than Portland. Winter's lingering antics wreak havoc on my mind- leaving it cloudy and dizzy. The coast is my medication.

Amethyst

This semiprecious stone is part of the quartz family. Ancient Egypt, classical Greece and Rome adorned themselves and their works with amethyst. Spiritual properties of amethyst include awareness, clarity, calm and intuition. It's commonly referred to as a stone of the mind.

Addiction #21: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

• Preheat oven to 350
• Beat butter and sugars till creamy
• add eggs & vanilla
• mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon & salt then add
• add oats & chocolate
• bake your sweet rounded spoonfuls for 8-10 minutes to a golden brown

Heaven.

Spring fever.

Encrusted pearls with carnelian.

White Wine Sangria

1 bottle white wine (any)

1/4 cup sugar

1-2oz. Grand Marnier (Spiced Rum would taste yummy too)

3 limes

3 lemons

2 oranges

1 cup raspberries

Any fruit you fancy will do the trick. Juice the wedges of citrus and toss in your wine. Add sugar, liquor, and any other diced fruit. Chill overnight and serve. Some recipes call for fizz like club soda or ginger ale when ready to serve.

I grabbed the largest bottle of pinot gris and dumped out a cup (for my homies), then added all the goodness. Fizz didn't quite make the cut.

Snow Week

After skiing around Trillium Lake (despite blisters from my boots), I got the bug for more snow. We headed to Little John. This sweet location has an open log cabin to enjoy a crackling fire after hours of sledding. We had a blast!

Snow and freezing rain was headed to Portland that night. As we headed out of the Gorge (with ample time before the storm), a jack-knifed semi truck stopped traffic for 4 hours! What usually takes us one hour to commute, we did in six! Good thing we dressed warm and over packed food & blankets. It was a forced break we had to surrender to. Driving on a blanket of snow and ice as the Gorge winds whipped our car like a ping-pong ball? Not so much.

It's freezing in Portland these days!
We headed to the Oregon Coast. At least
we can freeze with a view of the ocean.
It was beautiful and surprisingly
sunny. Sweet!
