Design Fix

Something old, something new.
Where's my spray paint?

Seattle Bound

Find us at the
Fremont Fair

Booth B41 (Burke Area).

June 19 & 20th, 2010.
Saturday 10am-8pm
Sunday 11am-6pm

On June 19th and 20th the Fremont Fair returns to celebrate community with a toast to summer! Founded in 1972, the Fremont Fair is one of Seattle’s most beloved neighborhood street festivals, featuring a weekend of eclectic activities that celebrate the quirky community of Fremont, the self-proclaimed “center of the universe.” Held annually in mid-June to coincide with the Summer Solstice, the event draws more than 100,000 people to shop, eat, drink, mingle, groove, and enjoy all manners of creative expression. Artistic highlights include craft and art booths, street performers, local bands, wacky decorated art cars, the free-spirited Solstice Parade produced by the Fremont Arts Council, and many other oddities that personify Fremont’s official motto “Delibertus Quirkus” – Freedom to be Peculiar. The Fremont Fair is produced by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and funds raised benefit a number of area non-profits including Solid Ground, a local poverty-focused non-profit who originated and produced the Fair for nearly 40 years.

Playing with Rocks...

Layering

I love the way Marty layers her jewelry. Let's see, she has on: sapphire, peridot and turquoise earrings, Opal nugget necklace and a Sterling Garden Disc Necklace. The gems are all different but together they are harmonious.

Hula Hoops!

I've been feeling the urge to hula hoop these past couple weeks?! I found some glittery ones at Walgreen's that will do for now, but am in love with these Hip E Hoops pictured! These turquoise glittery hoops rock! We've been having reckless hula hooping contests in our living room (the Legos go flying everywhere). Yed's form is a bit spastic. Micah spins with the hoop! Mine, well, I'm working on it. The boys think it's hilarious. I'm on my way to being the hula hooping champion of the world!

Enjoy your weekend!

Studio Table

Currently we have our studio table filled with our Eclipse Necklaces and earrings. These rock! They are asymmetrical and fun. I like them really big! Why? I'm from Texas--that's why;)

The Chocolate Croissant

Yed and I have been competing with each other on our chocolate croissants. So far he's in the lead. They are so delectable, especially straight out of the oven! I need to go on a 10 step program for sugar! Tomorrow?

Jewelry Care and Tarnish Tips:

  • When jewelry is stored, keep in plastic zip lock bags to avoid jewels from oxidizing.
  • When cleaning is needed, use an old, soft bristle toothbrush and gently lather metal (avoiding gemstones as much as possible) with warm water and toothpaste or Wright's Silver Cream (found at your local grocery store) works wonders.
  • Rinse thoroughly and gently pat dry.
  • Soft gemstones like turquoise, coral and pearls may change color when left in the sun or submersed in water.
  • Avoid jewelry contact with harsh chemicals found in house cleaners, swimming pools and hot tubs.

Crochet Covered Stones

A friend of mine made me an antennae cozy for my car. It's awesome. My antennae may get chilly from time to time. Stones with sweaters? Glorious! I love these by Canadian artist: Knitalatte. She sells prints of her crochet work that I adore.

Listening to Radiohead

Non-stop Radiohead. Love.

Kahneeta

We tired the kiddo!

We headed out to the high desert region of Central Oregon to Kahneeta and camped out in a Tee Pee with some friends. It was warm and fun! We headed to the pools and soaked in some sun. The Tee-pee's are awesome! I suggest taking an air mattress (concrete floors+back=problems). We had a great time:)

Studio Table

We've been experimenting with patinas, metals and soldering. I love this part! It makes my blood flow. Between orders I gotta sneak in and make something that's been cooking in my head. We're getting caught up with our delicate necklaces too. We apologize if you've paid us a visit and your necklace was gone... New work on it's way!

Enjoy your weekend!

Breakfast for Dinner

Lately I've been craving breakfast for dinner or lunch. Sometimes I just can't wait till morning ya know? Banana pancakes or oatmeal with raspberries or omelets... My little guy instigates this. Lately he's been wanting macaroni for breakfast. Better yet, macaroni and hot dogs!?

Layering

I love how Cheryl layers her earrings so effortlessly. She's got fabulous taste (if I don't say so myself)!
Thank you Cheryl!

Little Chapel Wedding

We had a wedding to attend on Monday night!

It was great to see old friends as we all gathered around to witness Jesse & Angie get married! We were cheering so loud that it was hard to hear the ceremony! Good thing they couldn't hear us rooting and clapping - they were in Vegas! We tuned in live at LittleChapel.com and witnessed the ceremony on line. It was so cute! We celebrated all night!

I must say Angie looks stunning!

Congratulations Angie and Jesse!
