Gerbera Daisies with Black Diamonds & Quartz

Thought I'd share my messy quick sketch of these earrings. I rushed through it just to get started on these daisies. I loved making these!

This was a recent custom order with Black Diamonds set in the center of these Sterling Gerbera Daisy Earrings. I need to make a pair for myself! It's bitter sweet to see them go, but I know these babies are going to a good home. Lucky Gal!

PS. I broke my outdated camera and used my cell phone for this pic.

Home Jewelry

I love this lamp! It's like jewelry for your home except mo' betta! I do have a secret love affair with lamps & light fixtures. Shhhhhh. This is actually on my list of to do's for my brother-in-law's wedding. He would like 13 of them size XL and maybe a pinch of green in the mix. He would say, "And can you make them tomorrow?"

Proud Moments...

Well you see here, I have this 'lil guy. I also have a 'lil artist boutique in NE Portland. Together my shifts are always full of surprises no matter how slow we might be.

A lady walks in and says hi. My 'lil guy decides to run out of the bathroom and see who could possibly be saying hi to his momma. Like this picture here, with his pants way down, shirtless, he says hi to this sweet woman. I look back and was speechless at the vision. Let's just say, I'm proud to be Micah's momma! You know?
I forgot to add that he can be a pushy salesman when he follows people around the store -clothes on of course;)
With that said, come by and say hi!

Addiction #12: Bamboo

I love Bamboo!!! I can't get enough. I want to make an outdoor hut out of bamboo lined with a picket bamboo fence and decorate it with bamboo while wearing bamboo on it's bamboo floor.

I love the sound of the name too. Bamboo! It all started in college when I made 2 bamboo tables. Then it manifested into a bamboo self portrait study. Seriously.

Father's Day Gift

Jealousy, originally uploaded by baboon™.

I know. A basketball on this blog is completely out of place and really, I must be smoking crack to blog about basketball. Well, I have a basketball crazed husband named Yed. For father's day a good friend suggested I get Yed a basketball. Simple right? Well, I guess there is an art at choosing the right ball. They have to be, indoor/outdoor, perfectly round and feel right. Sounds like a boob job to me...hee hee. So I can thank Byron for going through the trouble of getting the perfect ball because Yed lit up like a Christmas tree when he got it. Then he gave it the physical examination with furrowed brows!? A good father only deserves the best basketball, right? He said, "Sweet babe! How did you know?" I said, "I know everything."

Happy Father's Day!

I remember these pics of my dad holding me after work when I was a baby. I remember his blue work shirt and how I would get excited when dad came home
from work.

I don't have very many pics, but this one is classic! Late seventies decor and style. I'm being a turkey sitting on my dad's lap. My brother looks so tiny with my momma! They say my dad and I are similar and very stubborn. C'est la vie. When I was little I would look through my dad's endless tools, projects and sketches. He is very crafty! With his help (tons), I placed 2nd at my 2nd grade science fair. It was a fabulous sculpture of the solar system. We spray painted and even made intricate rings around Saturn using old styrofoam, toothpicks and scrap wood.

I love you Dad! Happy Father's Day!

Tattoos

Masterpiece, originally uploaded by calexico7 - [away for a bit].

I should be working now, instead I'm looking at tattoos. I think my brain is fried this second. I can't turn on my torch tonight -just because. A night off?

I would love to get another tattoo. I think I may sketch one out and it just might get my blood flowing again. Ever get in a funk at your desk? Work bench? Studio? Sewing machine? Microphone? Computer?

Addiction #11: Belts

I'm addicted to belts because they are a secret weapon! They add instant polish and jazz up any outfit. When I wear a nice flowey (is that a word?) top, I add a belt and wallah, I'm actually put together. This belt (above) I drooled over on this month's Lucky Magazine. It's $30 from Aldo. I looked it up online and it's on sale for $19.98 at ALDOshoes.com. Shipping is free, Sweet nectar! So I bought it! Check out these hot ladies I found on flickr with their secret weapons...

Organize:

bookshelf spectrum, revisited, originally uploaded by chotda.
On my list of things to do is to organize all my gemstones by color. It will be a pain, but really inspiring and rewarding. I will actually have an idea of what gemstones I have in stock. Uhmmm, not that I was clueless or anything. I'll take a picture- only if it looks cute. Now to find a vintage dresser with lots of drawers...

Bridal Collection coming soon... I promise...

I'm working on our Bridal Collection and will publish it really soon. I promise;) It's Topaz & Pearls. Can a girl have too many Pearls?

I've also been on a Black Onyx kick lately and love the contrast with creamy white Pearls.

"Can you wear hoops to your wedding?" a lady asked me last week. I say you can wear what ever you want. It's your day baby! I like that last sentence for everyday.

Now I just need to get my hands on those strappy gladiator heels I've been lusting after...

Daisy Fever

I always have the fever. I've resisted adding daisies to everything like I used to but it's all coming back to me. These daisy hoop earrings I love. They are continuous and light but pack a serious punch. The bigger the better, but I make 'lil ones too. Enjoy your weekend!

Sole in the Pearl

Justina $149
Cynthia $59

I headed to Sole today in the Pearl (10th & Couch) and I was surrounded by complete eye candy!! I'm smitten... Well you see, there are these shoes, and we flirted, and I can't stop thinking about them! I wish I had a picture so I can show you. When I own them, ummmm yeah, own them, I will show you... I loved these other styles that were there too. Kim Lane- the owner, doesn't mess around. She's got a fierce eye for what the ladies love. We will also be sending some fresh jewelry there in July! Another reason to stop by;)

Mission: Fresh Strawberry Jam From Scratch

Fresh strawberry jam from scratch, because that's how we roll! This was a 2 day project from picking the berries from Sauvie Island (Kruger Farms) to canning fresh strawberry jam. We hit up Maggie's house (Papaver Jewelry) and got busy canning, also squeezed in some fun of course;) Erin (One Root Embroidery) was a golden picker yesterday with her sweet baby Orson. Ann (Ann Madland Jewelry) plucked the tops of these berries like a pro. Leah (Leah's Glass Creations) helped make this post possible with her lovely pictures.

Warm Weather Delights

I saw this on Martha Stewart's site and would love to recreate this in my back yard! A lovely chandelier in the center with pillows, fabric, lights, candles, wine, chocolates, food... Heaven! Add family & friends to the mix and it would be a lovely time...

Thunderstorm

lightning, originally uploaded by brian.crissie.

So this picture was taken in Chicago and could easily be mistaken for downtown Portland in the Pearl today. Maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but this storm came out of no where! We set up shop for First Thursday and one block over I see paintings in the air, canopies, paper, dirt, all kinds of debris. Like a tornado tore thru the Pearl! So many artists lost works and it was headed our way! My friend Suzanne held onto the canopy with me as her purses and bags hit the ground. Yed held the glass cases together and Micah held onto his bicycle. People were yelling, artwork was crashing, it was a mess! I looked up at my neighbor Kirk, and he said, "So your sticking around right?" BTW- he was a bit delirious having been hit by a car on his bike today. I don't think I've ever packed up jewelry so fast. It was really a world record (6min). I heard advisories on the radio and my friend even called to warn me. It was so sunny and pretty at that time, I brushed it off. Wow! Thanks for offering shelter Erin!

Update: I drove by at 8:30 and about 4 or 5 artists stayed! That's pretty hardcore! Maybe they drove in from Seattle?

Sunshine!

I love the sun in Portland! It makes me want to hang out outside and drink a mojito! I will Not be at the Saturday Market this weekend. Lots of studio time for me. Bride season is in full swing and those orders need to be finished on time...or else!
